THE SITUATION AND PROSPECTS FOR FURTHER PROCESSING IN CHINA

The walnut, a traditional fruit tree in China, plays an important role in regional economics. It is used in the food industry, in medicine, chemical industry and crafts. Walnut processing has an enormous potential to be further developed. This paper summarizes the Chinese situation with respect to further processing of walnut. These products include walnut oil, walnut powder, walnut kernel with various flavors, walnut milk, premixes, walnut crafts, carbon molecular sieve and activated carbon. The potential and feasibility of further processing is also discussed.
