STUDY ON SHRIVELLED-SEED FRUITS IN LONGAN INDUCED BY MH AND 6-BA

Two plant growth regulators were sprayed on a normal-seeded cultivar of longan (Dimorcarpus longan Lour. ‘Wulongling’) for inducing shrivelled seeds. Results showed that MH could induce shrivelled seeds repeatedly, and its optimum concentration was 600 mg/L. But the content of TSS, soluble sugar, titratable acid, sugar to acid and the index of fruit figure all decreased in different extent. The shrivelled-seed fruits quality were promoted with the combination of spraying N-(2-chloro-4-pyridyl)-N'-phenylurea (CPPU). However, 6-BA didn’t induce shrivelled seeds repeatedly, which might be mainly related to the treatment period and needed further study. Index of fruit figure proved to be good measure to value whether the fruit of longan was shrivelled or not. Fruits developed from late flowers had high percentage of shrivelled seeds, which might be related to the regulation of endogenous hormones.
