MAIN PROBLEMS AND COUNTERMEASURES FOR LONGAN POSTHARVEST MANAGEMENT IN CHINA
China is the original producing area and the chief cultivated country of longan (Dimocarpus longan Lour.). In recent years, the longan business has been rapidly developed making China the first ranking in the world in terms of cultivation area as well as annual production.
However, problems concerning storage, transportation, distribution and marketing, or the postharvest management, for longan fruits have also surfaced.
This paper discusses and analyzes these concerns and presents some countermeasures for improvement.
