A VADEMECUM OF BANANA (MUSA SPP.) TRADE FROM AFRICA INTO THE EUROPEAN UNION

This paper provides an overview of the procedural framework for imports of bananas into the European Union (EU). The paper describes the regulation of the EU banana market, presents the EU rules applicable to imports of foodstuffs. The study also details those aspects of EU food law related to the imports of bananas. Furthermore, it covers the marketing standards applied in the EU. The study ends by summarizing the framework for the controls of foodstuffs and setting out the features of the many standard systems applied privately by supermarkets in the EU.
