POTENTIAL FOR KIWIFRUIT CULTIVATION IN SOUTHERN BRAZIL

P. Simonetto, C.R.C. Lamb
About one third of all Brazilian kiwifruit orchards are in Rio Grande do Sul. The development of kiwifruit growing in this state is summarised. Inadequate winter chilling is one of the main obstacles to productivity and this is particularly so for ‘Hayward’ which seems better suited to colder climates.
