ASPECTS OF GROWTH BEHAVIOUR AND EVALUATION OF DMY OF MEDICAGO ARBOREA UNDER DIFFERENT MANAGEMENT UTILIZATIONS FOR PASTURE IMPROVEMENT IN MEDITERRANEAN ENVIRONMENT

A. Corleto, E. Cazzato
The paper briefly describes some biological and morphological characteristics of Medicago arborea (tree medic) a member of the family Leguminosae or Fabaceae and its biomass potential as forage plant for pasture improvement under Mediterranean conditions. In particular, studies on the relation between seed germination and moisture content of the seed, dry matter (DM) evolution of the plant organs during the growing season (October-May) and dry matter yield (DMY)/plant under real sheep grazing management, are reported.
