SCREENING AND IDENTIFICATION OF LETTUCE GERMPLASM FOR HIGH TEMPERATURE TOLERANCE
Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is one of the half cold-tolerant plants. The growth inhibition emerges under high temperature in summer. The heat tolerance of 55 different lettuce cultivars was screened under normal (spring) and high (summer) temperature and several agronomic characteristics were recorded. On the basis of the observations it can be occluded that the heat tolerance of the lettuce genotypes S4, S24, S19, W9, W15, J11, J18 and J20 were better than S2, S6, S7, S10, S11, J1, J2 and J7.
