SURVEY OF CONTAINER NURSERY IRRIGATION IN CATALONIA (SPAIN)

O. Marfà, R. Cáceres, L. Luján, L. Narváez, C. Cunill
A survey of ornamental plant production was conducted in the two main nursery areas in Catalonia (Spain): Girona and Barcelona. The objective of the survey was to identify the management procedures adopted in these container-nursery areas to obtain information regarding the emphasis placed on irrigation and fertilization. The survey results indicate considerable differences between the two areas analysed and that best management practices with respect to irrigation and fertilization have not been adopted by nurseries. The information obtained in the survey may be of use in planning better management practices in pot-plant nurseries in Catalonia.
