NEW ORNAMENTAL FLOWERS IN BEIJING

Based on investigation of wild flowers in northern China 80 species of wild flowers were introduced in Beijing. After five years of research and cultivation eight kinds of ornamentals were selected as good, drought resistant, extensive management, cold-resistant, suitable for planting in the Beijing area, 5 for early spring blooming, Adonis amurensis, Pulsatilla dahurica, Corydalis ambigua var. amurensis, Corydalis speciosa, Tulipa altaica, 2 for summer, Thalictrum petaloideum and Ligularia fischeri, and 1 for fall, Sanguisorba officinalis.
