ACHIEVING SUCCESS THROUGH COOPERATION IN THE ONTARIO PROCESSING TOMATO INDUSTRY

J. LeBoeuf
A distinguishing characteristic of the Ontario processing tomato industry is the close cooperation between and among field growers, transplant growers, processors, researchers, and extension specialists. The Ontario stakeholders also maintain close ties with colleagues in other processing tomato production regions in North America and around the world. The willingness to work together and share information for the good of the industry has allowed Ontario’s processing tomato industry to remain innovative and successful. Ontario’s approach to improving bacterial disease management and improving irrigation technology and infrastructure offer examples of the cooperation that is a hallmark of the industry.
