PERFORMANCE OF FOUR APRICOT CULTIVARS IN THE REGIONAL "FRUIT FARM DEVELOPMENT PROJECT"
The project started in the spring of 2003. In the period 2005 to 2009, the suitability for cultivation in an atypical performance area apricot cultivars Harcot, Bebeko, Aurora and Pella introduced in the frames of the project, were studied. Magyar kajszi was used as a standard cultivar. The resistance of the studied cultivars to late spring frost was evaluated. The period of flowering and ripening was determined, as well as a biometric analysis of the fruits and the yield of the cultivars. The observed trees were tested serologically for the presence of PPV, PDV, PNRSV, ACLSV and ApMV. The possibility of applying herbicides in orchard was tested. As a result of the investigations, it was found that the cultivars Bebeko and Harcot showed good adaptability and they are suitable for cultivation in the region of Plovdiv, which is atypical for apricots.
