STUDIES ON BIOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THREE CHINESE JUJUBE CULTIVARS GROWN IN SOUTH XINJIANG

M.J. Lin, Z.L. Wang, C.Y. Wu
By observation of the phenological phase, the growth and bearing habits, biological characteristics of three Chinese jujube cultivars ‘Zanhuangdazao’, ‘Xinledazao’ and ‘Hupingzao’ were revealed. The results indicated that budbreak, leaf expansion, flowering and fruit set were earlier in ‘Zanhuangdazao’ than in the other two cultivars. The fruit of ‘Hupingzao’ was spindle-shaped and the largest one among the three cultivars, with smooth fruit surface, thin skin and dark red fruit color. Its flesh was thick, crisp and sweet. Budbreak, leaf expansion, flowering and fruit set of ‘Xinledazao’ were later than those of the other two cultivars and its bearing branch growth, leaf length and width increase were also slower.
