INFLUENCE OF TURFGRASS ON HUMAN AESTHETICS AND PSYCHOLOGY: A REVIEW
Turfgrass is highly popular and the predominant form of vegetation in many cities and suburbs.
Research has focused on turfgrass breeding, genetics, cultivar evaluation, physiology, soil science, and environmental impacts of turfgrass.
Less attention has been paid to the specific interaction of turfgrass and human psychology.
The objective of this work is to review relevant research and summarize findings.
The potential evolutionary impact of turfgrass on deeply ingrained aesthetic preferences is discussed as are studies implicating turfgrass as a component of landscapes with attention restoration capabilities.
