About Botanical Gardens

The main scope of the Working Group Botanical Gardens is to bring together researchers, scientists, students, interested people, and organizations on topics related to the maintenance of living collection of plants under scientific management for purposes of education and research. Recently, botanical gardens focus on plant conservation – ex situ conservation and seeds dried and stored at low temperature or in tissue culture, public display, sustainable use, tourism, recreational activities, protected natural urban green area as landscaped gardens, production of marketable plant-based products, as well as services for the improvement of human well-being. Many functions emphasise a focus on research, education, and conservation. In 2019, The first International Symposium on Botanical Gardens and Landscapes was held in Bangkok, Thailand.
