Scientific partnerships to promote fruit and vegetable production
The new publication Fruit and Vegetables: Opportunities and challenges for small-scale sustainable farming, developed by FAO and CIRAD, provides comprehensive technical guidance and policy insights, with a particular focus on small-scale farmers, towards developing the fruit and vegetable sector to achieve the SDGs.
This publication was launched by FAO on 20 September 2021, in support of the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables 2021 #IYFV2021, through an engaging virtual event to raise awareness of its contents and the critical role of fruits and vegetables in food security, nutrition, livelihoods and incomes of small-scale producers.
This event also provided the unique opportunity to inform the audience of a new Memorandum of Understanding between FAO and the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS) and to introduce the International Horticultural Congress (IHC2022) in 2022.
The video recording of the Event is available below for on-demand viewing.
The part with the introduction of the FAO-ISHS MoU starts shortly after minute 50:00 into the video.
