The ISHS Secretariat will soon be initiating the procedure for the election of Section and Commission Chairs and Vice Chairs. During the next International Horticultural Congress (IHC2014, Brisbane, Australia, August 2014) those (re)elected will come into office for the next 4-year term: 2014-2018 (until the next IHC2018 in Istanbul, Turkey, 2018).

Both the election rounds as well as the preliminary nomination of candidates are reserved to ISHS members-only.

The IHC2014 mascot has a name!

The Organizing Committee of the 2014 International Horticultural Congress in Brisbane Australia (IHC2014) announced they received some excellent suggestions as a name for the IHC2014 mascot and they are pleased to announce they've picked one! The favourite name came from Vera Sergeeva and the little koala will now be called "HortiKoala"!

Darou Abdulmalik is doing something remarkable with help from something remarkably simple. She is feeding her family of 11 in Sudan with the nutritious vegetables she grows at home in Kulbus, West Darfur—in a 6-foot diameter plot called a keyhole garden. Darou Abdulmalik feeds her family of 11 with the nutritious vegetables she grows in her keyhole garden next to the family home in West Darfur, Sudan. "Since I built my keyhole garden in April, I have harvested 15 times," Darou says.
