The Institute of Horticulture (IoH) announced that Her Majesty the Queen (UK) has been graciously pleased to grant a Royal Charter to the IoH.

APA 2013: The African Potato Association (APA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Kenya, the National Potato Council of Kenya, and the International Potato Center are hosting the Ninth Triennial African Potato Association (APA) conference, which will be held at the Great Rift Valley Lodge in Naivasha, Kenya from the 30th of June through to the 4th of July 2013.
The meeting will have 3 specific objectives:

CABI is a not-for-profit science-based development and information organization. As part of its development plans for horticulture, CABI is carrying out a 10-15 minutes survey of current information needs and uses in horticulture. The goal of the survey is 'to develop new or better products for horticulturists worldwide'. CABI is calling upon ISHS members' views on what sort of information and tools they find useful.

Horticulture Australia Limited (HAL) is responsible for the national management and coordination of R&D for Australia's horticultural industries including fruit, vegetables, nuts, nursery, turf, cut flowers and extractive crops. HAL is inviting preliminary proposals for new research concepts, ideas and technologies that are transformational in nature.
The 1st Middle East Horticultural Summit will take place in 2013 with a speaker panel made up of horticulture industry professionals from across the world. This innovative event will focus on research and its potential on the future development of horticulture.
Unseasonably cold weather may have some Florida blueberry growers frustrated, but frost will not prevent the U.S. state from having a peak production year. Florida Blueberry Growers Association president Bill Braswell explained that despite a serious cold snap right before harvest time, Florida is in for a strong year. "For total output, we're probably going to have a record year but that's going to be because we have so many more acres on the ground. We had enough chill to set a decent crop. We're going to have a good season," he said.
In a ceremony on 14 February 2013, Dr. Robert Prange, Chair of the ISHS Commission for Sustainability through Integrated and Organic Horticulture, was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
