Vine and Berry Fruits

The Division Vine and Berry Fruits (DVIN) is composed of five Working Groups organized to foster collaboration among scientists and promote research and technological advances pertaining to vine crops (grape and kiwifruit) and all other berries grown in temperate, subtropical and tropical regions of the world. Each Working Group organizes symposia (usually meeting at four-year intervals) that are focused on advances in sustainable production and understanding of the biology, physiology, ecology and genetics of the crop’s production. Additional topics of focus include availability of genetic resources and use in breeding programs through utilization of standard and advanced breeding and biotechnological tools, plant physiology for programming plants through propagation systems, plant adaptation to different cultivation systems and climatic conditions, field pest and disease management, fruit quality and postharvest handling. These symposia offer ideal opportunities for researchers from the public and private sectors, working with specific vine and berry crops from around the globe to meet and increase their knowledge and capacity, network, exchange ideas, develop collaborations and visit growing areas in different parts of the world.
All the symposia are attended by researchers, technical experts and advisors and are supported by recognized companies from around of the world. These individuals and entities are also represented in the Acta Horticulturae publications, which provide a valuable opportunity to share information, promote research findings related to vine and berry crops and gain visibility at a global level.
The Division’s associated symposia are unique events to promote the interaction between researchers and company experts spanning production to retailers and create good opportunities to gain a perspective on the problems and opportunities for research on these crops.
DVIN interacts with other ISHS Divisions and contributes to meetings organized by other Divisions that support Division objectives.
