THE TWIN-SCALING TECHNIQUE FOR NARCISSUS PROPAGATION

The use of twin-scaling as a rapid propagation technique for narcissus over the past decade has resulted in the development of a successful standard technique for use especially with virus-free stocks.
Three experiments are described which help to improve the technique; these are concerned with date of twin-scaling, twin-scale size and twinscale age.
Other methods to supplement twin-scaling are discussed, emphasising the need for more rapid methods of cutting up bulbs and for optimising subsequent growing conditions in the field to achieve maximum yields.
