A new strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa Duch.) cultivar, 'Jukhyang', was developed from a cross between 'Redpearl' and 'Maehyang' by selection of seedlings and lines at the Agricultural Development & Technology Center, Damyang in 2012. The general characteristics of 'Jukhyang' include high vigor and semi-upright type of growth. The flowering and harvesting date of 'Jukhyang' are earlier than 'Redpearl'. The fruit shape is conical, fruit color is medium red, and fruit quality is superior to that of 'Redpearl'. Soluble solids content is 11.2 °Brix, which is higher than that of 'Redpearl' (10.5 °Brix). The average fruit weight of 'Jukhyang' was about 17.2 g and the marketable yield was relatively high because of a low percentage of abnormal fruit. It is resistant to powdery mildew. 'Jukhyang' is suitable for forcing culture because it shows weak dormancy, high yield and fruit quality.
