Analysis of psoralen and mineral elements in the leaves of different fig (Ficus carica) cultivars
In the present study, we determined and analyzed the pattern of temporal variation of psoralen and seven mineral elements in fig leaves from different cultivars. Our results indicated that the psoralen concentration of most cultivars peaked in late July, and that of 'Bojihong (A132)' and 'Branswick' was considerably higher than that of the other cultivars, reaching 14.61 and 14.23 mg g-1, respectively; the concentrations of Ca, Mg, and Fe increased in summer, whereas those of K, Zn, and Cu decreased. A correlation analysis indicated that psoralen concentration was positively correlated with the concentrations of Ca and Mg. These results provide a scientific basis for fig cultivation and the development of an effective pharmacological resource.
