Sustainability in viticulture

G. Çakıtlı
Sustainability is defined through three overlapping principles: environment, social and economic, and establishes a strong bond with future generations. Viticulture is one of the most important branches of agriculture and it is a cultural heritage besides being a source of livelihood for many regions. The protection and sustainability of viticulture is very important in this context. Problems such as decrease in yield, decrease in quality, extreme weather events, instability in the market and decrease in vineyard areas as a result of global changes are the factors that threaten the establishment of this bond. In this study, the factors affecting the development and sustainability of the viticulture sector are examined under three headings as environmental, social and economic, and the solutions of the problems are mentioned.
