Abstract
Twenty greenhouse covering materials were studied from 1977–1983 at the Agricultural Research Center of Northern Greece.

The experiments were conducted simultaneously on normal greenhouses and miniature models.
Also, samples of plastics materials were exposed to solar radiation to study the effect on: optical properties of films, life span, dust attraction and moisture condensation.

In miniature models the thermal properties and in greenhouses the thermal and optical properties of the films and their effect on tomatoes, cucumbers, melons, peppers and egg plants, yields and earliness were examined and in this respect data is given.
