The IBPGR Tropical Fruit Descriptors is adopted in the present study. It has been observed that specific leaf characters, flower shape, fruit shape and fruit spine are highly heritable. Using these characters, Thai durian can be characterized into six groups, namely : a) Kob, b) Lueng, c) Kan Yao, d) Kam-pun, e) Tong-yoi and f) Miscellanies.
