WEB-BASED DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR HYDROPONIC VEGETABLE PRODUCTION

A hydroponic vegetable production website was designed and implemented as http://www.oardc.ohio-state.edu/hydroponics/ to provide new and existing growers as well as educators and students with interactive learning resources. Resources included interactive decision models, a series of production chance-of-success graphics for tomato production, and interactive spreadsheets to allow users to experiment with customized economic budgets for lettuce and tomato production. The website also included links to equipment suppliers and trade associations as well as newsletters and educational materials related to greenhouse design and greenhouse crop marketing.
