Abstract
Fruit quality is a whole of features and specific characteristics which stands for the selection and promotion of cultivars according to the market demands and destination.
In the breeding work, this characteristic is a major objective in the selection of the new genotypes.
Autochthonous cultivars like Rebra and Generos as well as Jonathan, Golden Delicious, Starkrimson, Idared and Florina were evaluated in comparison with new introduced ones like: Goldrush, Dalinred, Dalinbel, Ariwa, Enterprise, Granny Smith and Braeburn which are grown at Pitesti Maracineni, Romania in terms of fruit quality: market appearance, flesh, taste and nutritive characteristics, according to the present demands on the European market.
