MANNA ASH (FRAXINUS ORNUS L.) IN TURKEY
Manna ash (Fraxinus ornus L.) is a very important tree species among hardwood taxa found in our country.
This importance comes from the fact that it is a multi-purpose species.
The species has been defined as an ornamental plant for urban planting sites due to its aesthetic characteristics.
Furthermore, it is known that the species has not been affected much from climate changes and it possess tolerance against drought.
In this study, the state and the importance of F. ornus in Turkey have been examined.
In this context, botanical characteristics, natural distribution, site properties (soil, climate, and associated woody taxa), nursery studies and its utilization areas have been briefly reviewed.
