Tropical and Subtropical Fruit and Nuts
The Division Tropical and Subtropical Fruit and Nuts (DTRO) is comprised of nine Working Groups organised to foster collaboration among scientists and promote research and technological advances pertaining to the major, and some minor, tree fruit crops cultivated primarily in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Each Working Group organises symposia that are focused on sustainable production and developments in understanding of all aspects of the crops including, amongst others, the biology, physiology, ecology and genetics of the crops, as well as new advances in cultivar breeding and evaluation, orchard management and postharvest handling. Other focal areas include genetic resources and biotechnological tools for use in improvement programmes, plant physiology and cultivation systems for climate resilience, pest and disease management and the impact of pre- and postharvest practices on crop quality. These symposia offer the ideal platform for researchers from the public and private sectors to meet, share and increase their knowledge and gain perspective on challenges and opportunities for research, network, exchange ideas and develop collaboration opportunities. Field visits allow participants to experience crop production in different parts of the world.
Division Tropical and Subtropical Fruit and Nuts interacts with other ISHS Divisions and contributes to meetings organized by other Divisions that support cross-cutting Division objectives.
