ANDROGENESIS IN 5 CULTIVARS OF CITRUS LIMON L. BURM. F

Research on androgenesis in five lemon cultivars was carried out to obtain haploids. By anther culture we obtained callus, embryoids and leafy structures. None of these produced plantlets. The response of the anthers to the different conditions tested is strictly linked to the genotype. Cytological observations showed multinucleated pollen grains and a haploid and diploid numbers of chromosomes. Isozyme analysis using glucose phosphate isomerase (GPI) and phosphogluco mutase (PGM) confirmed a homozygous genotype in some cases.
