Pollination of Prunus ovules was conducted in vitro on White medium (Rangaswamy, 1961) with addition of 15% sucrose. The early stages of embryo development were studied by microscopy. After flowering in the orchard, the immature embryos were collected and cultured in various media based on Murashige and Skoog (1962) and Norstog (Stimart and Asher, 1974) medium with additional growth hormones. Embryo development and plantlets were obtained. The stage of embryo excision was important for obtaining normal plantlets in culture.
