Postdoctoral Scholar in Horticulture - Tree Fruit Physiology and Production

The Opportunity: A postdoctoral research position is available for research in subtropical stone fruit (peaches) in the Horticultural Sciences Department at the University of Florida.
The focus of the position will be understanding the physiological mechanism of low-chill peaches' responses to different cultural practices, abiotic stress, climate change, and nutrition management. While the position is focused on low-chill peaches, the postdoctoral work might include other fruit crops. The position requires a self-driven individual with strong plant science laboratory experience and field background. The ideal candidate will have experience in experimental design, plant physiology and biochemistry, data collection, and analysis. The postdoctoral scholar will lead and participate in preparing the data and manuscripts for publication in peer-review journals.
Qualifications: Eligible candidates should have a recent Ph.D. in horticulture, plant sciences, plant physiology, plant biochemistry or related fields. Highly motivated individuals with excellent oral and written communication skills are encouraged to apply. The candidate should have the ability to work independently, as well as in a team (i.e. supervising graduate student), to perform multidisciplinary projects and have critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The candidate should be proficient in handling data and statistical software such as Statistica and SAS. The candidate must have a valid Car driving license.
Salary: $47,500 and fringe benefits. This is a one-year position and sustained funding will be dependent upon successful grant acquisition.
