IN VITRO REGENERATION SYSTEM OF HYDRANGEA MACROPHYLLA PLANTLETS FROM LEAVES AND INTERNODES

J. Boccon-Gibod, C. Billard, S. Maltete
France and especially Anjou region is the first producer in Europe of Hydrangea.macrophylla pot plants with 5 millions plants/year. Creating new varieties is the long term objective of this program. This work present for the first time a reproducible and efficient regeneration system of Hydrangea macrophylla plantlets which is the first necessary step of genetic transformation depending on Agrobacterium tumefaciens DNA vector.
